Turning 21 During Covid Can Still be Fun

I know what you're thinking..."Yeah right Skylar. How can it get any worse than experiencing your 21st birthday during Covid?" *insert rolling eye emoji here*

I promise you guys it is still possible to make your 21st epic during a global pandemic. They key is...

BALLOONS

Honestly who doesn't love balloons? They can make anything look super cute, and fun. Although it wasn't exactly what I pictured myself doing the night of my 21st, it was 2020 what do you expect? I think the motto of the year was "just make the best of it" and that's exactly what I did.

Balloon Wall

I had a small gathering with my closest friends the night I was turning 21. So my roommates party planner came in to decorate our apartment (I wish I could take credit for what she did). She went above and beyond, and did way more than I was expecting. It was so cool, and I was absolutely obsessed with it. Honestly, we loved it so much we kept all of the balloons up until they deflated on their own (about three weeks later). Seriously I am still not over what an awesome job the party planner did. Looking back at these pictures to share them with you guys I am still like "wow this is such a talent that she can do this with just balloons!" I mean look at all of this, and it only took her about three and a half hours.

Balloon Arch

Aside from the balloon wall she also added a balloon arch over the table where the cake and white claw tower was. I have never seen a balloon arch in person before, so I was impressed! It was so cool how it looked like it was coming out of the wall. Honestly all of the balloons changed the entire look of my apartment. It really was something special, and something that I'll never forget. I can't say it enough... balloons make everything better! Maybe next time I'll be daring, and try to make a balloon wall or arch myself. I might need to work on the level of patience I have before I attempt that, but we'll get there someday (lol). Long story short, if you're looking for a sign to make a balloon arch or a balloon wall this is it. Go for it! They're life changing, I swear!

Shot Book

Yes, it gets better! My roommate, Bree worked with my closest friends to make me a "shot book." If you don't know what that is, (like me before I received one) it's a scrapbook with 21 pages in it. Each page is designated for a family member or friend of the birthday girl (or boy lol) to design. The birthday girl (or boy) receives it on the night they turn 21. When they look at the book periodically throughout the night they go and take a shot with the person who's page they are looking at. It was cool looking back on old pictures with friends I've had since my childhood. It was also really special to see pictures of me as a baby on the pages my family members made for me. I loved this gift, it is something I will always cherish and look back on. By the way 21 shots is a lot and I definitely would not recommended (haha)!

Although most people dream of going out for their first legal drink the night of their 21st, 2020 had other plans. That is perfectly okay with me. Turning 21 was still a night I will never forget!
