This is your sign...take the trip, just do it!

One Tuesday night Joe and I were relaxing on the couch when we came across cheap flight deals. Within minutes we were planning our trip. My brother and his friend wanted to join once they saw the price. We booked our flights and hotel, and we were at the Philadelphia Airport departing for Miami by the end of that week.
Find the cheapest flights
As you know cheap flights are all over the internet right now. We found our flight on American Airlines for $86 round trip. The times of the flight were perfect. We departed from Philly to head to Miami at 6:30 am on Sunday January 10th. We spent four nights and five days there. Our flight departed from Miami on Thursday January 14th at 9:00 pm. It was perfect considering we had the full day on Sunday when we got there, and the full day on Thursday before we left. I also know that it may be frowned upon to travel in the middle of a pandemic, but let me tell ya the safety precautions taken were stellar.

Find a reasonably priced hotel
To stay during the week is much cheaper than staying through the weekend. So I'm assuming with that factor considered that may be why our hotel was so reasonable. Let me start by saying it was absolutely beautiful. We stayed at the Marseilles Beachfront Hotel. The pool was amazing, there was a great poolside bar, and it was footsteps from the beach. They also had cabanas, hammocks, a pong table, and life size Connect Four. There was plenty to do! We also paid an extra fee that included happy hour from 6:00- 7:00 pm each night we stayed. Of course we enjoyed that every night of our stay, and even before our departing flight. The hotel had a great environment, with super friendly staff. It was about $100 a night, which was completely reasonable for all that it included. I know sometimes it's assumed that cheap hotels with good ratings aren't possible, but it most definitely is. Do your research!

Look for excursions
Let me start by saying there are so many things to do in Florida. I was kinda overwhelmed by all of my options. However, the one that caught my eye was a day trip to Key West, FL. The pictures of Key West's clear, blue water made it an easy pick. I just couldn't pass it up. We rode from Miami to Key West by bus. It's about a 3 hour ride, and we stopped for breakfast on the way. It was really nice. The entire excursion costed $138 a person. The bus picked us up in Miami at 6:30 am, and we arrived in Key West at about 11:00 am. Once we got there we hopped on a boat to go snorkeling. When we returned back from snorkeling we had about two hours of free time before making the drive back to Miami. With the two hours we had left we decided to eat at the original Margaritaville. Margaritas are my all time favorite, so how could I not go to the original Margaritaville location?! If you ever vacation to Miami I highly suggest this excursion. It was the best of both worlds. We got to experience two "hot spots" in Florida. I will say the vibe in Miami vs the vibe in Key West are worlds apart. However, both locations are amazing in their own way. Next time I visit FL I want to stay in Key West so I can get the experience, and of couse another chance to go to Margaritaville .

Find activities
On one of our last days there we were looking for something different to do. We spent plenty of days on the beach and by the pool. We wanted something where we could explore the beautiful city of Miami. After searching the internet we decided that renting mopeds was exactly what we were looking for. The rental place was right across the street, so it was perfect. Joe and I rode on a moped together which was really fun, and sometimes scary (I'm the worst "back seat driver"). I should also probably include that I've been in 5 car accidents, so Joe drove the entire time. He let me drive on some back streets, and I almost crashed. So safe to say we made the right choice by letting him be designated driver. We only rented for an hour which was the perfect amount of time to do all we wanted. We got to ride around the city, and stop at a souvenir shop. I got a sweatshirt for my mom, and a personalized shot glass for my dad. It was great because we didn't have to take the 15 minute walk there, instead we got to ride in style. We had an absolute blast riding around town on the moped. It was also super cool being able to ride next to all these awesome cars that people down there drove. Joe was definitely fascinated by that (haha). He was like my personal voice over, telling me about each car and how fast it goes. This was my first time mopeding, and it was definetley an experience I'll never forget. I would highly reccomend renting a moped next time you're on vacation. It was only $30 to rent for the hour... an unbeatable price!

Find Cool Restaurants
Malibu Farm is one of the best restaurants in Miami Beach. This is my second time eating there, and it was phenomenal. It's an outdoor restaurant right on the beach. Both times I went; I went for brunch. I got the grass fed burger, and it was amazing. Best burger I've ever had! When in Miami this is a place you have to eat at. The food is great, the cocktails are delicious, the staff is friendly, and the location is beautiful.

We also ate at a hotel restaurant that was on the bay. It was really nice to eat on the bay and have a change of scenery. We got to see some really nice boats, while also having a view of the city at night. The atmosphere was cool and relaxed. We were able to get up and walk around on the patio while waiting for our food. The food was more like bar food, but still tasty. When staying in Miami I would definitely suggest enjoying a meal on the bay.

On our last night Joe and I went to dinner, just us two. We ate at an Italian restaurant called Mercato Della Pescheria. It was on Española Way, which is really cute. It's a strip of restaurants, decorated really cute with lights and lanterns. I got chicken Alfredo, and Joe got a steak (his favorite). Both of our entrees were delicious. I have to say if you have the chance to eat here get the bruschetta appetizer. Joe and I can't stop raving about it.
